Private Classes

How much is it to book a private class?

It is 2000 QAR for 2 to 5 adults. Each additional adult is an added 400 QAR. For a kids private class, it is 1000 QAR for 2 to 5 kids. Each additional kid is an added 200 QAR.

Are private classes completely private?

Both branches present a private room. Doors are locked at the Old Doha Port branch to ensure class concentration, but there are no curtains available. The Pearl branch features curtains for a fully private setting (e.g., removing shaylas/abayas).

What do I make during a private class?

Private classes with us cover both wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. Each student will make two pieces: (1) a hand-built plate, (2) their preferred cup, bowl, or vase on the wheel. Time is allotted for painting and customizing your creations.

Can I bring decorations and food?

You are welcome to bring a cake and some decorations (e.g. balloons, banner, etc.). We kindly ask that you don't bring any food during the class to avoid cross contamination.

Membership

What are the prices to enroll in the membership?

All you need to pay for is the clay and the hours, and everything else is included in the price (i.e. the tools, studio space, glazes, kiln firings, etc.). The clay is sold as 5kg of clay (200 QAR) or 10kg of clay (300 QAR). The price for the hours is 75 QAR per hour. The hours do not expire.

What types of clay can I buy as a member?

We are currently selling white and grey clay.

Can I stop by anytime and work at the studio?

Yes you can! We just ask that you book a time slot on our website in advance. This way you can be sure that there is space and availability at the studio.

Can my child join as a member?

Kids can join only if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How do I buy hours?

Some of our members like to work in the studio and pay for the time they used up at the end of their session. Other members prefer buying a set of hours (e.g. 10 hours) and not have to constantly pay each time they finish their session.

Do I need to work fully independently in the studio?

Although you are working independently in the studio, our team is always around and happy to help you with your projects.

Custom Orders

How do I inquire about a custom order?

We kindly ask that you send an email to our management and design team at info@clayencounters.com with all the details of your request. Someone will get back to you within 2-3 business days. Sometimes emails end up in our junk or spam folder and we don't see them. If you notice that it is taking longer than 3 days to respond, just send us a gentle reminder and we will get back to you.

What should I expect from a custom order?

Custom orders always take time. There is a design process we follow to ensure optimal quality of service. We will first send you a quotation. Upon your approval, we generally start with an initial meeting and or sample making. Once the design is confirmed, we will initiate production. The production time will depend on the quantity of products you need. The production will generally take about a month, sometimes a little longer. This is why, if you are interested in custom made pieces, you should expect to have them ready in just over a month.

What are some of the things we can custom-order for you?

We can design and make hand-made or wheel-thrown plates, cups, bowls, vases and other ceramic pieces. We can also design and create gifts for special occasions or events (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).
